BRAVE Leader | David McQueen

The BRAVE Leader
Executive Programme

A structured programme for senior executives who are already leading — and want to lead with more precision, more clarity, and more consequence.

Most leadership development was built for people
becoming leaders.

The BRAVE Leader Executive Programme is built for those already in the seat and carrying the full weight of what that means.

Where decisions are consequential, the stakeholders are complex, and the pressure rarely comes from one direction at a time. What senior executives often lack is not capability but a rigorous framework for understanding how they make decisions, where their instincts serve them and where they don't, and how to lead organisations rather than just manage them.

The BRAVE Leader applies a methodology developed through years of senior executive advisory work to the specific demands of executive leadership. Not as theory but as a system you install and use.

Core modules

Each addressing the actual terrain of executive leadership, not a generic curriculum

Maximum cohort size

So live sessions remain substantive and peer quality is maintained

Live cohort sessions

Per programme cycle, facilitated directly by David McQueen

Not a course.
An operating system.

The BRAVE Leader is not a set of principles you learn and file away, it is a framework for how you think, decide, and act applied specifically to the demands of executive leadership.

The programme assumes you are already operating at the top of an organisation and that what you need is not more content but a more precise instrument for understanding how you lead.

Six modules, your pace, your context

Work through the programme on your own terms using video, workbooks, and structured challenges that connect the methodology to the decisions you are actually making right now. The material is dense and direct and it assumes you are already leading at a high level.

A closed room, three times per cycle

Three 90-minute live sessions with your cohort, facilitated by David McQueen. A room of twenty senior executives who have done the same work and are testing it against real situations. The conversations in these sessions are often where the real work happens.

Baseline. Progress. Outcome.

A BRAVE Leader diagnostic at entry establishes your baseline across all five dimensions. A second assessment at completion measures movement. The data is yours and it informs your BRAVE OS plan and gives you something concrete to take forward beyond the programme.

Six modules.
The actual terrain.

Each module addresses something an executive at this level is genuinely navigating, not what leadership textbooks say they should be thinking about.

Identity & Authority

The Weight of the Seat

This is what the role actually requires of you beyond the job description. The identity work of becoming an executive and the shift from functional success to enterprise responsibility. Exploring what you carry, what you leave behind, and what most people don't tell you before you get there.

Enterprise Mindset

Seeing the Whole Board

This is Enterprise thinking in practice. Moving from managing a part to stewarding the whole. Those multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and an organisation watching every signal you send. This is how executives build the systemic view that distinguishes genuine leadership from senior management.

Strategic Decision-Making

Decision Under Pressure

This is where the BRAVE framework does its most important work. Consequence literacy. Understanding the full downstream impact of the choices you make under conditions of uncertainty, time pressure, and incomplete information. How to decide well when the stakes are highest and the picture is least clear.

Culture & Influence

Culture as Infrastructure

Culture is not a values statement, it is what your organisation does when no one is watching, and it is shaped almost entirely by what executives role-model, tolerate, and reward. We explore how senior leaders impact workplace climates and set culture through behaviour, and the political intelligence required to do it at board level.

Governance & Responsibility

The Governance Layer

This is accountability, risk, and the ethical complexity that comes with executive authority. Board relations, shareholder dynamics, and the moments where the right decision and the expedient decision are not the same thing. It is Executive presence in governance contexts and how to hold the room without dominating it.

Framework Integration

Your BRAVE OS

This is Integration. Mapping the BRAVE framework — Bold, Resilient, Agile, Visionary, Ethical — onto your own leadership as it actually operates. A development plan for the next stage of your leadership, grounded in the diagnostic data and built around the specific decisions you are carrying. This is where the programme reaches its apex.

Measure where you are.
Then where you've moved.

Every member of BRAVE Leader programme completes a full diagnostic assessment at the start of the programme. It maps where you are across all five dimensions of the BRAVE framework and identifies the specific areas your leadership most needs to develop.

At the end of the programme, you complete a second assessment. The comparison between the two is not a performance review, it is a precise instrument for understanding how the work has changed how you operate.

  • Bold. Your relationship with calculated risk, decisive action under uncertainty, and the courage to act on conviction.
  • Resilient. How you recover, sustain performance, and lead effectively through sustained pressure and setback.
  • Agile. Your capacity to adapt, pivot, and lead through ambiguity without losing organisational coherence.
  • Visionary. How clearly you see and communicate the direction of the enterprise and how you pull others toward it.
  • Ethical. Your decision-making under moral complexity. Accountability, governance, and the choices that define what your leadership actually stands for.

Already in the seat.
Leading at the top.

The BRAVE Leader is for senior executives who are not at an acute inflection point right now — but who know that how they lead compounds over time, and that serious investment in the quality of that leadership is not optional at this level.

  • CEOs, COOs, and C-suite leaders carrying full enterprise accountability
  • Senior executives who want a rigorous framework for decision-making, not a course on leadership principles
  • Leaders who have heard the work through a keynote or advisory engagement and want sustained access to the methodology
  • Those building toward a significant decision or transition who want to arrive at it sharper
  • Executives who want a serious peer room, not a network event

BRAVE Leader is not designed for emerging leaders or those preparing to enter the C-suite. That is a different programme for a different moment.

If you are at an acute inflection point requiring intensive advisory support, Strategic Advisory, Leadership Team Advisory, or Executive Counsel may be more appropriate. Some members engage with BRAVE Leader alongside an advisory partnership.

EXPLORE ADVISORY

Two intakes.
Twenty seats.

BRAVE Leader runs on defined intakes — not rolling enrolment. The cohort starts together, works through the material together, and meets three times. That structure is deliberate. It is what makes the peer dynamic worth having.

On application. Full programme access including all six modules, three live cohort sessions, entry and exit diagnostics, workbook, and the BRAVE OS integration framework.

BRAVE Leader is not open enrolment. A brief exchange confirms fit — for you and for the cohort. The composition of the room matters as much as the content.
